VSI is the only Remote Product Services (RPS) tool that enables users to perform enhanced remote monitoring amnd management capabilites through leverage of the embedded functionalities in today's networking and automation equipment, thus eliminating the need to install specialized agents or foreign applications on the managed devices.
Additionally, VSI further enhances RPS through allowing users to also leverage the capabilities of their chosen network management tools, and seamlessly extend their use to remote devices as if they were located on the same physical or logical LAN as the applications.
To complement VSI's standard remote monitoring capabilities that include device and application up/down status checks and SNMP trap collection. VSI's enhanced capabilites of Extended Message Delivery and Transparent Management Circuit allow for differentiating levels of remote services without requiring changes to the remotely managed devices or Operations Center tool set.
Extended Message Delivery
Extended Message Delivery (EMD) module for VSI enables Service Providers to remotely and securely collect autonomous messages and alerts from remote devices without the need for a dedicated or persistent connection such as a VPN, dial-up, or lease line.
EMD elevates proactive monitoring to a new level by allowing a remote VSIgateway to listen on specific protocols, ports and services for messages from the predefined device. When a VSIgateway receives a message, EMD will securely relay the message in an encrypted format, in real-time, over the Internet to its associated back-end management application or collection tool located in the Service providers Operations Center.
Multiple destinations for messages can be defined by device, allowing a Service Provider to seamlessly match them to their corresponding process, be it for notification, correlation, or reporting.
If a message received at the Operations Center requires an action be taken on a managed device, ComBrio’s patent-pending Directed Circuit technology will allows a technician to securely access the device for remote remediation, or further diagnostics.

Transparent Management Circuit
ComBrio’s Transparent Management Circuit (TMC) module for VSI enables Service Providers to remotely and securely poll and retrieve status, statistics, or alerts from remote devices without the need for a dedicated or persistent connection.
Users can leverage their existing investment in a Network Management Applications (NMA), while also enabling them to seamlessly utilize the embedded "polling" management capabilities native to the remote devices being managed.
Proactive monitoring and management functions such as an SNMP MIB walk, (GETS, GETNEXT), SNMP SETS, along with other protocols where the request for information is initiated from the Operation Center can be performed over TMC.
TMC establishes an instantaneous single-directional connection to specific port(s) on a remote device IP address and allow the associated response packets to flow back normally to the NMA address at the Operations Center.
Multiple TMC sessions can be performed simultaneously, and can be configured to support multiple instances of NMA’s. All Transparent Management Circuit communications are transferred within secure connections, along with traceability reporting to meet audit trail requirements.

Both EMD and TMC modules can be used as a standalone application for remote message receipt, or used in conjunction with VSI’s standard monitoring capabilities.
