Software House International selects ComBrio’s VSI for their client’s Secure Remote Support needs

April 4, 2005
Patent Pending Directed Circuit™ technology improves service levels and security while reducing cost
ComBrio, Inc., providers of on-demand support for on-demand networks announced today that Software House International (SHI), an award-winning, global procurement outsourcing company and leading business-to-business solution provider, has selected ComBrio’s Virtual Service Infrastructure (VSI) to provide third-party support organizations secure remote support into their customer’s internal protected network.

Established in 1989, SHI is known for outstanding customer support as a service provider to customers such as Agilent, AT&T, The Boeing Company, Bank of America, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Lucent Technologies, MCI, and Merrill Lynch.   With over 700 employees globally, SHI has received recognition from the following for its service and support:  Bank of America, Boeing, IBM, Lucent, Microsoft, SBC, and Texas Instruments.  SHI also is recognized as the number one corporate reseller by Adobe, Business Objects, Citrix, Corel, Macromedia, Microsoft, Network Associates/McAfee, Novell, and Symantec.

“We were convinced ComBrio VSI would help our customers meet corporate mandates to control how and when third-party support vendors access the corporate network,” said Marsha Garrision, Marketing Executive at SHI.  “In fact, one of our Fortune 100 clients has already reduced internal costs and improved remote support using ComBrio VSI.  This customer also is better able to meet ongoing internal security and traceability requirements.”

Industry analysts agree that both large enterprise organizations and support organizations will face a critical issue in 2005 as they attempt to maintain a secure remote support platform for employees, partners, and third parties, while ensuring mandated compliance. “With the cost of remote support escalating and the obstacles presented by multiple layers of firewalls, the pain is very real for the service provider market,” said Carol Baroudi, Partner, Hurwitz & Associates.  “I’m convinced ComBrio's direction is exactly where the support market is going.”

Like many, SHI’s customers face the delicate balance of ensuring corporate network security, while also opening the network to trusted third parties.  By implementing ComBrio’s VSI as an alternative to the traditional methods, such as dial-up or VPN, SHI is better able to help its clients manage this challenge.

“Antiquated solutions such as dial-up or VPN cannot provide end-to-end security, while also reducing support time and cutting costs,” said Dave LeBeau, CEO, ComBrio, Inc.  “By leveraging ComBrio’s VSI, SHI provides its customers with an alternative solution for secure remote device monitoring and management without compromising security.”

About Virtual Service Infrastructure (VSI):
VSI allows any support technician to connect, with mutual consent to any remote device over the Internet with its unique, policy-based Directed Circuits™.  VSI dynamically applies security policies and access rules, creating an on-demand path between two end points.  VSI logically extends the physical reach of the existing network beyond the NOC by expanding the footprint of the network; it does this by removing geographical, physical and technical boundaries between the NOC and those remote sites it supports.
